Last year, Electronic Arts confirmed that it was shelving Medal of Honor, leaving a AAA shooter gap between its Battlefield releases, but great plans have been made to fill this void. In an interview with CVG, EA stated its plan to work in a new rotation of shooter franchises.
“The shooter rotation we think about now is Battlefield, Titanfall and Battlefront, and so we like those three brands going forward,” Gibeau said. “We’re working out how we’re going to line that up because that’s what you’ll see from us.”
This is very exciting news, in that it shows their dedication to Star Wars: Battlefront, something I have been more than cautious towards when it comes to EA. Battlefield and Titanfall have made a large impact on Xbox One, PS4, and previous gen consoles, so this cycle is undoubtedly already starting to take shape. Seeing Titanfall is this cycle can almost guarantee a multi-platform release for the next installment. EA is cycling what it plans to be its three biggest shooters, and they wouldn’t want to hold such potential to one console, though this is only speculation.
